John 2:6 “Whoever claims to live in Jesus must live as Jesus did.”
The Pastor’s Heart
John 2:6 “Whoever claims to live in Jesus must live as Jesus did.”
Do you remember the name Ashely Smith? In March 2005, she came home and found an escaped murderer waiting for her. He held her hostage for several hours at gunpoint. During that time, she did something extraordinary; she made the most of the opportunity and witnessed to her captor. She cooked him breakfast, read from Rick Warren’s book “The Purpose-Driven Life,” and talked about God’s plan for his life and about Jesus. Later, the man peacefully gave himself up to the police.
Ephesians 2:10 says, “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” This scripture encourages us to be wise in the way we act toward outsiders; making the most of every opportunity. God often presents us with opportunities to witness, but too often we let them slip by because we are not wise enough to see them for what they are.
The Apostle Paul says we are “God’s handiwork/workmanship” created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. God often places good works before us in the form of opportunities to share our faith with people who do not know Jesus “yet...” But we need to be wise and willing enough to make the most the opportunities that “will” come!
As this year draws to a close and we begin a new year, let’s remember that each new day brings each of us new opportunities to serve the Lord and express our faith to others, sometimes in strange and different situations. I pray we are constantly and consistently thinking about “LEADING ONE TO THE KINGDOM OF GOD!” If we don’t do it, who will?
I would like to say a Special Thank You to Michael and Ashley Young for their leadership of the Youth Group for the last few years. As of December 31st, they have decided to shift their focus more on other ministries within the Church. Michael and Ashley, your leadership has been greatly appreciated and we thank you for serving the Youth Group.
Beginning January 1st, Adam and Shanna Faulkner will become the new Youth Leaders. They prayed about this prior to taking on such a big commitment and along with the Church Council, believe God has called them for such a time as this! We look forward to great things ahead and supporting you and the youth group with your future ministry projects!
I would like to thank each of you for your support throughout 2022. This year has been the most difficult year ever, however, God used the challenges and the blessings to lead us to a place where we will start 2023 stronger than ever.
Sheri and I would like to thank each of you for the many cards, gifts, and expressions of love shown to us at Christmas. We love you all and are so glad God has called us here to serve.
May God Bless You Indeed! Sheri and I love you More!
